Organic Makeup -- good for your skin!

MY FAVOURITES!

Miessence Bronzing Dust

Miessence Bronzing Dust - I use this as a blush and love it!  I basically just put this on in the morning along with mascara and I’m set.  I love the way this organic makeup is packaged -- an old school design of a small round container with holes in the top (for the dust to come through), and a small sponge to apply it with.  The smell is what I’m in love with as it has rose oil in it which is truly divine.  Perfect for a natural, sunkissed look.

Miessence Organic Black Mascara

I’ve just started using the Pure Black Organic Mascara -- you’ll need to apply a couple of coats to get thickness and length.

Great pure black colour and no nasties to hurt your eyes! Perfect for you if your eyes are sensitive to the usual chemical based mascaras. It’s water soluble too so it washes off easily -- you won’t need to use nasty makeup removers.

But if you do need a makeup remover, just use an oil (apricot kernel oil, hazelnut oil etc). You can either put the oil on a cotton pad or cotton tip, and gently wipe your eyes and lashes.  It’s the best thing to use for makeup removal!  I’m naughty and usually just put some oil on my fingertips (clean hands first), then basically rub it gently over my eyes and lashes, and then wipe with a facial tissue.  Then wash your face as normal.

Most of us wear some sort of makeup -- every single day. Even if it’s minimal -- only lipstick, or mascara, if it’s not certified organic makeup, it contains a concoction of synthetic chemicals and known irritants.  Cheap, non-organic makeup can be damaging to your skin and health.

Women consume on average, around 2kgs of lipstick in a lifetime – wow! (much more, if you wear it all the time!)

  • Toxic synthetic penetration enhancers are added to most personal care products eg  Propylene glycol a petroleum derivative, is readily absorbed through the skin and scalp; found in a wide range of personal care products; including eye and face makeup. Organic makeup contains NO petroleum derivatives.

Propylene Glycol

Propylene glycol (PG) is a petroleum derivative. It penetrates the skin and can weaken protein and cellular structure. Commonly used to make extracts from herbs. PG is strong enough to remove barnacles from boats! The EPA considers PG so toxic that it requires workers to wear protective gloves, clothing and goggles and to dispose of any PG solutions by burying them in the ground. Because PG penetrates the skin so quickly, the EPA warns against skin contact to prevent consequences such as brain, liver, and kidney abnormalities. But there isn’t even a warning label on products such as stick deodorants, where the concentration is greater than in most industrial applications

There is no doubt that the skin CAN absorb what we put on it – you only have to look at nicotine patches to realize this to be true, and some medications are also administered through the skin.

More and more women today are  realizing that organic makeup is much better for their skin; switching to organic makeup can radically improve the condition of the skin.  I guess if we inevitably end up eating our lipstick!, I think I’d rather eat the safe organic substances contained in organic makeup!

Buying certified organic makeup will certainly reduce any long term health risks in wearing cosmetics every day.

  • Organic makeup won’t clog your pores
  • Organic makeup won’t feed acne or pimples; your skin can still breathe
  • Organic makeup won’t damage your skin cells
  • Organic makeup will protect against pollution
  • Organic makeup will keep your skin hydrated and brings immense benefit to your skin with added organic fruit and seed oils
