What’s Your End Goal?

What do you want your life to look like?
I just joined in a teleconference run by Chris Howard – the theme was kickstarting your goals for 2010.
I join in on as many teleconferences as I can as they really are a way to keep your motivation high, get expert advice and lets face it, we all need a refresher and reminder on how we can do things better! Now I’m definitely inspired and ready to rock n roll!
One thing I wanted to share from the call, and something that really stood out for me, is the importance of focusing on the end goal.
Chris Howard says we need to begin with the end in mind and constantly ask ourselves ” What’s the highest and most effective use of my time in relation to my end goal?”
Asking this question ensures that the small steps we are taking along the way are in alignment with our end goal. Quite simply, we need to have a destination or end goal in mind as this guides us and ensures we are ‘heading in the right direction’.
And it makes sense. For example: Our end goal, the great life we imagine, is to own our own business. Be our own boss, work our own hours, be in charge. We’re currently working 9-5 for someone else in a job we hate and get offered another job which is definitely a step up but not in the field we really want – it would surely be more challenging than the job we have now, but would definitely bring more stress and require more dedication and hours. If our ultimate aim is to one day own our own business and be our own boss is it better to take the new job (which would temporarily satisfy our dissatisfaction with our current job) or stay where we are while we further our skills to be able to go out on our own (like a night course in business perhaps?)
What’s going to move you forward – closer to your end goal?
If we don’t have an end goal to hold up next to these smaller choices along the way we can end up making decisions that ultimately lead to nowhere and possibly even away from our ultimate goal and life that we dream of living. I can definitely see how I’ve done this in my own life…
The first step is take the time to get clear on what you want your life to look like… what’s the end goal?
The recommendation is that we really connect with our ideal life – what we want it be like, look like, how we want to feel, what we want to create and have.. and write at least 3 pages. Don’t worry about the small details that may not reveal themselves right now – like exactly HOW you’re going to get there! That’s the whole point – once we have the end in mind the universe aligns itself and ‘the how’ tends to fall into place with the right doors and resources showing up in our lives…
So on that advice from Chris Howard, I’m going to grab my notebook and start writing and kicking some a#@ in 2010!
Chris Howard has some FREE seminars coming up – if you really want to get things moving, increase your motivation, momentum and confidence – this will surely do it for you! I went last year and it’s one of the most powerful seminars I’ve ever been too…
